Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) or now rebranded as Bogor Agricultural University was established to be a center of excellence in agriculture (in a broad perspective) and promote scientific research benefiting the future of mankind. IPB was founded on 1 September 1963 as a form of visionary thinking from leaders of the nation and those that care about agriculture higher education with a focus on agriculture, bioscience, and various related fields.
IPB, located in the city of Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, comprises 9 faculties and 3 schools offering 48 Doctoral study programs, 79 Master study programs, 39 Undergraduate study programs, and 17 Diploma programs. The university has more than 21 Research Centers, an Advanced Laboratory, University Farm, Animal Teaching Hospital, Student Dormitory, Library, and other world-class university support facilities.
Starting from 2018, IPB opened international classes conducted fully in English. These are the international classes of undergraduate programs:
- Veterinary Medicine
- Food Science and Technology
- Agroindustrial Engineering
- Business
- Marine Science and Technology
For all postgraduate programs (master and doctoral programs), foreign students are welcome. These programs are conducted in Indonesian language. The regular (Monday-Friday schedule) and non-regular classes (Friday-Saturday) are available.

IPB Graduate School also conducts Double Degree and Joint Degree programs for master and doctoral levels. A Joint Degree program is an educational collaboration conducted by two universities or more in a similar study program and at the same level, to achieve one degree. The Double Degree program is an educational collaboration conducted by two universities or more in different study programs and at the same level, to achieve two degrees.

We recommend you ask the administrator of each program about all the details since not all important information is available online in English. Do call or text or email the admin about your questions or inquiries. The preferred tool is using WhatsApp, social media account, and email. Be prepared to have an admin who is not fluent in English, so speak slowly and clearly. Combine the communication with written format to avoid misunderstanding as far as you can.
Bear in mind that all Indonesian higher education institutions are able to accept international students in programs outside the ones labeled as "international programs." That means that those regular programs are held in Indonesian language, and all international students should have sufficient language capability to enter the program.
