The Indonesian Student Visa is a comprehensive term, which includes several different permits and visas. In order to study in an Indonesian educational institution, international students have to obtain a study permit, an entrance visa, as well as a residence permit.
If you enter Indonesia for study, you will need a Visa either VITAS (Limited Stay Visa) or VKSB (Social Cultural Visit Visa) – which you can obtain at the nearest Embassy or Consular Office of Indonesia in your country. You need Limited Stay Permit for Study Purpose (index code: C 316) to support your stay permit during the study period.
It is not recommended to use the Visa on Arrival (VOA) which is only intended for those who are visiting Indonesia as tourists, NOT for those intending to live for an extended period of time because this kind of visa is not extendable.
The process is unique and rather complex, so any prospective students willing to study in Indonesia should focus on getting this visa process straight. The most important tip is to tightly communicate it with the university you choose to apply to. They are the ones who will help you with the process.
